Redding, California rapper/producer Space Cadet presents the Bui-directed music video for "Eyes Closed", his self-produced new single coming on the heels of visuals for previous single "Good Mood" (Youtube). A member of Bay Area collective Thirdeye Coalition, his releases include solo albums Still Love You (stream), Like Home and Letters From Space (Bandcamp) as well as his collaboration album The Love Nostalgic with Larry (watch the music video for "Shine") and his Turtlenecks project (watch the music video for "Make Over"). A professional sound engineer as well as a drummer/percussionist for marching bands, punk rock bands and everything in between, Cadet also collaborates heavily with fellow Bay Area rapper J.Lately (stream "Clean" featuring The Grouch).

"Initially I wanted to be walking next to the car while it was moving really slowly, to tie in with the theme of the hook, like a walk in the park type thing," Cadet says regarding the video. "However, the car (which my best friend Larry let me borrow) battery died and we had to wing it. I think in the end, the video now ties in much more to the verses as far as having to deal with the obstacles and adversities of the journey.”

Redding, California rapper/producer Space Cadet presents the Baws Films-directed music video for "Good Mood", his self-produced new single. “When I was done with the beat, the most appropriate title for it in my mind was ‘Good Mood’ because that’s just how it made me feel," Cadet says about his new single. "When I was done with it, I immediately started writing to it, which isn’t normal for me. That same energy transferred over into the lyrics so I just kept the title the same, which also isn’t normal for me. The concept itself is pretty self explanatory, like waking up in such a good mood you don’t let bad energy or worries you normally would have effect or ruin it.” Cadet is currently working on his third solo project.

Bay Area, California rapper and Distant Relatives member Vocab Slick presents the William Rushton-directed music video for “That Money”, Vocab's new single produced by HG Beats and co-produced by Starski. The new clip comes on the heels of visuals for "Highway", Vocab's collaboration record with DJ True Justice and Z-Man (watch), and "Flying" (watch). Releasing his debut solo album Lyrically Conscious in 2003 following several stints in jail, Vocab formed the group Distant Relatives with his childhood friend Emotionall and rapper Maynee (stream "Celebrate" featuring The Grouch and Eligh). Emotionall was subsequently deported to Mexico, and Maynee passed away in 2014, one year after Vocab's mother passed and his daughter was born. Vocab bounced back with 2014's Somethin' Slick EP (Soundcloud), followed by the Issues & Episodesfull-length (stream "Priceless" featuring Opio of Souls of Mischief). Vocab co-founded the Slap Frost Tour, which grew into an annual festival featuring the likes of Planet Asia, Locksmith, and Chino XL. Vocab recently toured with Tha Alkaholiks and Gavlyn following the release of his EP The Day After Yesterday(stream "Pusha" featuring Planet Asia). ''I just wanted to write a song for working class people," Vocab says. "There is a whole other side to the get money mentality that a lot of artists don't address. It doesn't always have to be duffel bag boys and fancy cars. I come from a back ground where my parents got up every morning and went and clocked in at a 9-5 job. I wanted to shed some light on that because I feel like were getting to a point in Hip Hop where the majority of the message conveyed is you have to have some kind of dope hustle to get ahead and that's not always the case. If that's your thing by all means get your money. On the other side though it's ok to have a ''real'' job if that's what puts food on your table and takes care of your family. Salute to all the grinders."

Bay Area, California emcee J.Lately presents his new single “Fun’s Up” produced by Space Cadet, the beatsmith behind half of Lately’s 2017 album Be F*king Happy (watch the “Papayas & Blunt Smoke” music video). J.Lately recently released the “Free” single (Soundcloud) as well as “By My Lonely” (listen) featuring fellow Bay Area emcee Locksmith. Hailing from Sebastopol, and having split time between Oakland and Southern California, Lately has toured with Zion I, Locksmith, and A-Plus of the Hieroglyphics, and his previous releases include “Save Yourself” featuring Blu (Soundcloud) and visuals for “I’ll Be Living” ft. Demrick (Youtube) and “Breathe” (Youtube). “This song is about the feeling of working a long week, finishing your shift late Friday night, getting your paycheck, then hitting your friends up like ‘don’t tell me the party is over already’, metaphorically speaking,” J. says. “It’s about appreciating the fun moments in life that we work so hard for, and even if they’re just fleeting moments, enjoying them as much as possible before they’re gone. The summer may be coming to an end, but the fun is definitely not up.”
