1. what is your main goal you wish to achieve in your process to make music 

Snazzy:  I hope my music saves lives and people get to understand my story through my music. I want to make music that connects with people, and when people hear me sing about happiness or sadness or heartache, they can identify because they know it’s real and it’s authentic. To be able to put all the emotions of life into music, where you can hear it and feel it.

2. How do you record your music currently; as far as studio, beats etc. How has the process evolved 

Snazzy: Firstly I take a cup of water, listen to my heart and connect to the beat with it, the first melody that comes to my head is what i will work with, it could be the chorus, the hook, the 3 or even the second verse. Where it would work best and fit in is where i would take it from.

3. Do you play any instruments if so which ones what is your favorite 

Snazzy: Yes, i play the guitar and it has always been my favorite instrument.

4. how do you stay motivated to keep expressing yourself 

Snazzy: I stay motivated by remembering who I am and what are my intentions for what I’m doing at all times. I always have to keep reminding myself why am I’m doing something and what I’m doing it for. That motivates me in itself, it’s like a fire inside of me it drives me to do everything I’m always doing, if it comes to the music or if it comes to community work I always remind myself why am I doing it and what am I doing it for and it brings me right back whenever I’m feeling down.

So one thing I would tell people is always remember why you’re doing something, always remember who you’re doing it for, what you’re doing it for and that will make answers a lot clearer. I see a lot of people are confused in a sense of what am I doing? or being hard on themselves and trying to figure out, what am I going to do next in life? Is this it for me? Am I doing what I’m supposed to be doing? Just don’t shy away from those feelings of what you feel like you need to, what you feel like should do. Always put yourself before a lot of people and you should be good to go. The world is crazy so you definitely have to be personally equipped to take on the world. People go at themselves all day before they even enter the world, just in their own minds. They use their own minds as a prison sometimes and they just get trapped in there, and I know that very well so….

5. What sort of community work do you do?

Snazzy: Man, doing community work is part of the agenda, back home or anywhere i find myself and i know anyone who does a lot of community work i get with them, it would be a tool for me to get to know the people that are in the same lane as I’m, go out and do something great, community work is very positional. I do anything within the community, weather it’s giving back to the less fortunate or going to speak at study grounds, speak to the kids about creativity or graduating e.t.c. Or going out to the beach with loved ones, or talking to the kids and rendering to people what they need that i have. I love helping people.

6. Are there any modern, past, or present musicians, bands, singers, you appreciate, who is your favorite musician?

Snazzy: Drake is my favorite artist but there are a lot of them I appreciate, they’re all amazing, legendary and most of them left a legacy which has helped in unifying and differentiating today’s sound which has been a great experience.

7. In life what is your purpose and mission within music creativity and life in general

Snazzy: Musically, i have things I want to express through music because I understand how music is such a great way and the best language to cope with any feelings – good or bad.

8. Who are some main influences in your life and why?

Snazzy: I’m influenced musically by almost everything i hear, music is art and art is communication and it speaks to me but there are some artists who influences my sound, the likes of Burnaboy, Drake, Kanye West, Kendrick, Wande Coal, Kranium, Bryson Tiller, Oxlade and few others.

9. What is your daily life like, what have you been up to?

Snazzy: At this point I’ve accepted that I’m a product of all things creative, looking through the things that makes up my spirit, whatever that be, music, learning everyday,  or anything else I’m just going to continue to showcase who I am and living freely as an artist in hopes to help the next person and making art that heals.

10. What do you appreciate most in working with others?

Snazzy: Their creativity. 

11. Are there any goals you have right now working towards you'd like to share?

Snazzy: I have got so many goals I’m working towards presently which I can’t disclose right now because i think it needs to be practical, i hope that answers your question as clear as my intentions towards my art and my daily life.

12. what is the one Item you must have at all times from the store grocery store, clothing store, any store? 

Snazzy: Definitely my guitar because I’m always with my guitar.

13. Who do you want to shout-out, anyone special who you want to shoutout?

Snazzy: Shout out to you Angel, I appreciate you and i love you so much, and I want to shout out to those who has shown me even an ounce of support, you guys fuel me and inspire me to keep going, I appreciate y’all.

14. Do you have any advice for anyone pursuing a career in music or any creative career.

Snazzy: My biggest advice would be don’t stop pushing, keep getting better everyday, work hard and Always remember that is all about the passion. Be passionate about what you’re doing and grow with it, don’t be worried about what people may say or think. Stay focused, be consistent, be dedicated to what you love and what you’re passionate about. With this you would conquer the world.

15. What can we expect from you in the next 12 months?

Snazzy: Expect more music, more content and more community work.

NEW JERSEY hip-hop Music Artist CINOEVIL and his crew with O.C.D are elevating levels. We are here to showcase their current work and find out more about cino and his come-up.

How did it all begin?

“When I was about 10 years old. My best friend’s older brother had low budget recording equipment in his room. He would make songs while we played video games. He was a singer.. still is. One day, he made a track and said he needed to find a rapper to get on the verse. So I went home and wrote the most unbelievably ignorant bars about my Lamborghini and being a trillionaire at the age of 10. Lmfao but I fell in love with the whole process of recording. It went on like that for two more years until I started taking it seriously.. Around the age of 13, a good friend of mine had committed suicide. I was the last person she tried to contact. I had a very hard time coping with it but I had found freedom in writing and getting my feelings out through poetry and hiphop. I made music from the heart for the first time and put it out on Facebook, YouTube and Soundcloud. I would get messages from people telling me how my songs and words touched them and helped them through their hard times. That’s when I truly fell in love with creating music. The feeling I got from hearing that my words helped people was greater than anything I’ve ever felt before. They say pain shared is pain lessened and that theory was 1000% true in my case”

How would you describe your music now?

“I feel I’ve stayed the same with the realness and truth in my music. I try to stay as honest as possible in the lyrics and speak on things that actually pertain to my life. I use music as my therapy works to its fullest potential is if you remain honest. What changed the most is the lyrics aren’t only about pain anymore. I touch on everything, both good and bad that I go through and see in my life. If i had to describe my music right now, I’d say it’s versatile. I bring a different vibe with each track… Different sub-genres of hip hop and different styles of rapping. I try to always keep the actual bars strong though whether I’m doing an ignorant autotuned track or if it’s straight old school boom bap rapping, I want the audience to be able to read the lyrics on paper and feel like they’re reading in depth poetry. Not just some braggadocious, fake luxury bars about things I don’t have.

How did you come up with the name “CinoEvil”?

“I had the name before I started rapping. My 4th grade teacher actually came up with it. My last name is Mancino. He always used to call me “Cino” for short. When he was taking attendance one day though, for whatever reason, he called me Cinoevil. And I just held onto it forever.”

Tell us more about O.C.D Music, how would you describe the brand? How did that come together?

“O.C.D was formed when I was in high school. Probably around sophomore year. It originally was just me & 3 other artists. Wolfe, Vero & Nerson. It stands for “Obsessively Creative Deliquents”. The team started to build as our music got more love locally. We tried to put together a group of artists with all different styles and talents as nobody would get overshadowed. We consist of rappers, singers, producers, photographers, graphic designers & even a comedian as well. We all grew up in the Tristate area. Jersey, NYC & Philly mostly. Vero went off to pursue his craft solo. The team currently is me (Cinoevil), Wolfe, Ragz, Summonte, Nerson, Steamboat Crilly, Mustang Marinara, Hoodbabii, Imani DC, Morskamo, Jaded Shade & Dole. I would describe us as a family.”

Rich From The Pole (Zach Richardson)- Chicago made born and raised in Rogers Park on the North side of Chicago (from the pole) was raised in a one parent home living into a grateful existence. You can hear in the music an attitude of motivation, pain and progression. His biggest influence growing up was his mother as she looked out for him. He started hooping early and started playing basketball at 4 years old. After a few wrist injuries he grew more into hiphop and music, which he considers, a “a blessing from God”

To start off, What has been your best experience by far so far in life?

The best experience I’ve had so far in my life would be winter of 2015. This was the year I quit my job, packed a backpack and bought a one way ticket to London. I spent 3 months on the road playing music and made it all the way to Japan. Nothing will help you discover who you are more than traveling on the road alone.

What does your creative process look like for your music videos? They are very well thought out and executed. Do you meditate upon this?

Every video starts with a song. Every song starts with a story. That is the first part of my process. When I write music I imagine movies. When it comes time to make that movie I start with my creative brief and my trusty production booklet. I learned how to produce from a good friend of mine, Brian Almalvez at Pogi studios a couple years ago. Ever since then I have a very focused process when it comes to bringing my vision to life.

Coming up As an independent artist, there are difficulties. what is a piece of advice you would give an independent artist. What keeps the fire lit for you?

Four words to live by. You Will Get Better.

Where do you go to get away?

Where is your favorite place to perform? Why?

My favorite place to perform is in front of an engaged audience who knows the words to your song. This is rare as a new artist. Most of the time when you playing in a bar mostly filled by people who have never heard your music before. Which is also a great feeling the moment you convince them to actually listen.

Do you plan out live performances, or live more in the moment?

Yes and Yes. I do plan out my sets but that doesn’t stop me from living in the moment. I believe in planning out my set list, flow, and to make sure that me and my band have practiced. But the second I hit the stage I perform for the moment and how I feel. But every time I play a show I make sure to think about my audience. At the end of the day when I get on stage it’s not about me anymore its about my fans. They are the reason I have a show to play so I always want to make sure that I do everything possible to play my best for them.

What sort of out-side-of-music influences helped in your music the most?

How do you stay focused on work?

Two things you need for the come up. Good music and networking. Keep these two categories top of mind at all times. If you don’t have good music no one is going to want to listen to it. If you don’t have anyone to listen to it your career won’t go anywhere. Both of these categories work together. Every connection you make is a opportunity  to improve. Whether it is a new person to make better music with, or someone who can help you get it out there. Music is a collaborative art. The House was created out of family and necessity. Im very blessed to have an amazing family of people who all want the same thing in this industry, and we work everyday to accomplish that.    

What has the music scene and Chicago looked like for you?

What is your story through that?

The music scene in Chicago is poppin. There is always an event, a show, a pop-up to go to but, the best experiences I’ve had have always been behind closed doors. There is so much music being created in Chicago whether it is at a studio, a party, or just a friends living room. It seems like every chance we get, music is being made and I love that.

What do you think is vital to an artist’s success in the up-coming months/years?

To define what success is to them, and what they are willing to sacrifice to achieve it. The first step is understanding what you want to accomplish, the next is coming up with the plan. You need to understand what is happening in the marketplace right now and where it is going. Once you have a plan you need to work relentless and continue to adapt as things change. Remember this is your dream, don’t let it get away from you.

The next Artist Snapshot features a unique artist from Seattle, Washington SWSHR. We recently were able to promote some of his new music including WAWA and music video for “Cantaloupe”. Afterwards we had the opportunity to learn more about himself as an artist and feature him in the next Artist Snapshot: SWSHR.

What is your favorite Swisher Flavr #rareflavr? - Why? How long have you been smoking weed, how does it play a part in your music. We assume your name comes from Swisher Sweets. Who has influenced you the most to start smoking weed?

Hey that’s a good assumption, I used to be a big Swisher Sweet head back in high school.  Me and my friends were definitely smoking Swishers, and if they stay a dollar a piece I think they’ll be chillin’ for a while. My boy Atticus says that everybody’s first blunt is a grape Swisher Sweet, and that’s the case for me but I don’t know about everybody!  I really started smoking in early high school and haven’t really stopped for that long, it gets me in a good headspace to create and to keep the patience I need to produce and mix and master on a laptop.

What was life like growing up in Seattle? The music scene ? Was cantaloupe filmed there? How has Seattle shaped you? Have you been anywhere else in the world?  

The music scene in Seattle is historically super insane and pretty deep in jazz and blues, and was probably pretty influential in me getting into jazz at an early age.  I played piano in the Garfield High School jazz band and we toured Europe and played in New York, so that was super awesome to experience before I got really into producing and rapping.  All of my videos have been filmed in the US, two in Colorado and one in Boston, but the video for Cantaloupe was filmed at the Paint Mines about an hour north of my college.  I have been all around the world with my family, and have been super grateful for the experiences my parents have afforded me, but I would love to spend more time in Europe, and visit the UK.

Do you have any experience performing live? What has that been like? 

I had my first legit performance in Seattle last summer, with an organization called Raw Artists that works with independent artists all across the US.  It went super well, a ton of my homies showed out, and I a lot of new heads hit me up after the show with a lot of encouragement.  I’ve performed many times at house shows at college, and all of them have been super live and have garnered a lot of support for my music.  I’ve been creating a lot more recently, so I’ve sort of dropped off of the show search.

Tell us about your projects that have been released? How many total eps are available? Which platform do you recommend people go to the most or where you are most poppin? Which Track or project really depicts your style the most?

I’ve released two full projects, Plantasia and Fruitbowl EP, and the process has been really illuminating and difficult but I’ve learned so much.  Plantasia was all produced on Garageband, so really not super proud about the sound but it means a lot to me in terms of where I’ve grown from and how my music has developed over the last few years.  I’m really proud of Cantaloupe, which features my college friend D-dub on the guitar, and my boy Tarin on the animation.  While I was mixing the project, Tarin was animating the video and after the summer we were both finished, and threw a dope release party the night of the release.  Cantaloupe captures a good insight into my musicality, and the total artistic nature of the project because it really was a communal effort.  The Fruitbowl EP has gotten a little over 100k on Soundcloud, but my Spotify is poppin’ off too!

Who are your top 5 favorite rappers/musicians- how have they influenced your life? who are your favorite producers to work with- what has it been like working with producers

your co-workers/collabs?

Top 5 is pretty difficult to put together, but I think T.I. takes the top spot as the first rapper I really connected with.  He’s got the southern flow on lock, and he’s been relevant and such a big leader in the hip-hop community for years.  I been on Gunna lately, and I think both of those two have influenced my flow a lot especially recently with Gunna.  I’m also a big fan of Smino’s new tape.  The only person I’ve really worked with consistently is D-dub, a rapper/producer from Cambridge.  We met at college, but linked up first in Paris and he brought me weed from Amsterdam!  He’s a killer musician, hit up his socials and his music for ya kid.

What do you have planned next as far as future projects? What is your goal as an artist?

My overall goal as an artist is to be doing everything I can on my own.  I’ve gotten way better at producing in the last month, and I’m super excited to be able to feel comfortable releasing something I made all on my own.  I’ve got a few singles lined up, although I don’t know when they’ll be scheduled for release.

What are some of your favorite brands you fuck with the most? Who would you want to have a deal with the most?

I mean I think the biggest possibility of a sponsorship would be from Swisher Sweets, but I don’t really smoke those anymore haha.  If I ever blow up I’d love to get sponsored by the Seattle Mariners.  They’re trash but everyone in Seattle loves ‘em.

Apollo Mighty is an artist currently residing in Chicago, Illinois. He has been in the creative zone for a while, but right now he is stronger than ever. To start off- How would you describe the light of your talent? When Do you find yourself you are creating at your best of the best?

“The light of my talent comes from my vulnerability. I find that I create better when I ignore the fears and focus on what I love to do.”

Awesome- When You are dialed-in what do you primarily focus on the most? Your Pitch? Energy on the Track? Tone? Or just nailing the lyrics?

Also, how do you typically come up with lyrics?

“It depends. Sometimes I’m trying to capture the essence of the song by moving around and willing the emotion to guide the rhythm. Other times I hear the riff or the run or melody and build from there. I honestly take what ever raw material God gives me and work with it until I’m satisfied (or as close to satisfied as I can get). It can definitely be a lot of trial and error.”

What song have you made do you feel captures the best version of yourself the most?

“These are some of the best questions that anyone has ever asked me lol. I’m thinking in between my responses . Theres’s a few so let me really think. I’ll narrow it to four: Dark Side of the Moon/ Unsaid/Where' I’ve been. There was a time- kinda where I’m at Last song: Where I’m going and working my way to be. My songs are extensions of me and they represent my range and my truth but these came out evenly with very little effort on my part. These songs feel like gifts to me and when I get to perform them it doesn’t feel like I’m singing but more so like I’m simply breathing. These songs feel like magic to me.”

Thank you. When you perform live do you focus more on catering to the audience typically, or do you internally focus on performing at the highest level?

How would you yourself describe your live show?

“Quite honestly I love to perform live. Recording is great and it serves its purpose as fas as distribution and allowing my artistic expression to be showcased but for me at least I come to understand that recordings can be quickly consumed and forgotten. My live shows however can’t be ignored and can’t be forgotten. What I bring to my live sets is something that cannot be denied or replicated. I am my real self when I get up there.”

Nice- by the way the Name Apollo Mighty is phenomenal. How did you get lucky enough to be named that?

How did your name come to fruition?

“Apollo was a nickname I gave myself when I was a kid and I insisted everyone call me that. It eventually stuck. Haha. I added mighty when I was living in Chattanooga and I was describing what I feel when I sing. I feel powerful, capable, connected, vulnerable, worthy… Mighty!”

Awesome where do you currently reside? Where else have you lived throughout your lifetime. Has any of the places impacted yourself artistically? If so how so? And/or What does your ideal recording set up look like? Anything you need to have on your “recording rider” or rider in general? What is something that you need to get through a session?

“I’m currently in Chicago. I’ve only ever lived in Tennessee. Memphis for most of my life and Chattanooga for three years. I’m definitely influenced by the vibrancy of Chicago. Artist have definite sense of who they are and what they need to say and they don’t hesitate. Art and the community around it are respected here. I like that. I attribute my soulfulness to Memphis of course but it’s more than that. Memphis was the first place I was given the opportunity to be heard and gain confidence. That has influenced my music more than anything. It gave me the courage to come to a new city and step into booths and onto stages. The recording situation I’m in now is my ideal setup. It’s a studio ran by a group of truly dope creatives. They’re all friends and they run this amazing studio here in Chicago. Honestly the space itself embraced me the first time I went there. They have everything I need and they’re professional which I absolutely have to have. The space is kinda hippie (ish) with tapestries on the walls and conversations about tripping happening all around but when it’s time to work they go in. The film each of your sessions so you can have that for promo and they’re just great guys. I was searching for a space for so long and I’m glad I was brought there. Huge shout to the guys over at Honey Jam Records. “

Amazing how do you feel about your music where it is at now? See you just released Solid Gold. Is that a single or a project for future release or just a single? How did you come up with Solid Gold?

“My plan right now is to release an entire EP at top of next year. I’m really inspired right now and I’m also ready to work. I’m probably more focused than ever right now.”

That’s awesome. Do you plan on performing any of your music live in the near future? Also how long have you been making music for? Do you have music in your family history?

What are some of your main influences in and outside of music?

“Yeah I’m adding a bunch of house shows and open mics to my schedule. My goal is to really build up a strong following in Chicago Right Now and I think it’s cool to do that with a GrassRoots Vibe. My faith influences my music as well as my day to day life and struggles. I’ve been making music since I was 7 and there are a few singers in my family as well.”

That’s great what do you typically look for as characteristics in other people either when building a team or collaboration with others?

“Absolutely. I go off vibes and natural chemistry. When I’m building with people I look for people who can do things that I can’t and who I can respect When collaborate it’s the same things but there has to be a fluidity in the energy that we share and vibe during conception.”

Great what is something we should know about you? Anything else you want to have that we have not covered? What ar eyou looking to accomplish or do in the near future with outgoing projects? What can we expect next?

“There are actually a couple of things I’d like to say to the future me when I read back on this. I know this isn’t exactly what you asked but hey. Lol. My response is as follows:

Right now and over the last few months you’ve hidden from. I know I scare you just like you know I’m your only real power. I’m your truth I am your freedom. Right now at this moment I can see you. I’ve seen you lie in bed until it’s time to go see people and you begin to put the mask on. I know that even though you make bomb music, have an amazing family and have finally fallen in love you still feel inadequate.

I can only say one thing:

It’s not about you. It’s never gonna be about you (like ever) And that it changes when you do. Love you homie”

Recently we had the opportunity to connect with @denzo2x NorthSide (NorthPole) of Chicago Native to discuss up and coming opportunities within the music industry and business as a music entrepreneur. He mentioned to us he has been in the music game for about two years now and is looking to take a serious step further as he releases his next projects. He has always been a fan of music growing up and the power it has to influence other people. To Denzo, it is all about gaining enough influence to create a positive impact. It helps his mentality to remain sharp, because you have to think on a higher scale to create. For him it is all about where you can take a listener mentally. He loves music where the song describes real life events that are taking place. He also explained how enjoys where music is currently, because different sounds are accepted more than ever.

A piece of the creative process-

In the beginning he would receive beats and break them down individually with his voice. Afterwards, he writes about half of the song and finishes the other half in the studio.

“It’s crazy because sometimes I write in parts whether that be writing uh hook of a song, then the bridge following a verse etc. sometimes my mind be all over the place so I just getta feeling for each part of the beat and capitalize off of it. “ -D.LaFlair

“I try to back myself into a corner before sessions to see what I can really come up with because my camp likes to keep it professional as far as time management so I know I have to come into studios prepared to a high degree.” - OG DENZO

He started performing by himself several months ago. His first performance was in Atlanta at Club Knockout Bar & Lounge and since then he began picking up serious speed. He said he loves doing shows because gets to meet people face to face and have them see the real him. His last three shows have went well and will be releasing a show recap video pertaining each song he promotes heavily. He has been on the radio once and had three songs played live through “NorthSide Plugged” . He has a couple radio station interviews coming up and will be in rotation. The EP is currently untitled but will have six tracks that all compliment each other and will be uploaded closer to winter/ December time, but is excited to put a stamp on the game and represent the city.

KaSean (@itsbobbytenderlove) is a creative artist on the rise from the SouthSide of Chicago, IL. We recently had the opportunity connect and feature his music in this next Artist Snapshot. We like to work with hungry artists on the rise, and who are looking to make a name for themselves in the entertainment/music industry and connect their work to others. This post is intended to get an introduction of himself as an artist, an intro to the music, and ideas in-progress.  Thank you to all readers, viewers, and listeners for following, commenting, and sharing this content.

KaSean was born and raised & currently resides on the Southside of Chicago, IL . At an early age, he fell in love with the art of producing and began making music at 14 years old. More recently however, he has put that on hold realizing he has a greater passion for writing. 

"I think music found me because a lot of music before I was introduced to the likes of Lil Wayne and 50 cents I just couldn't stand, but those were the two artists that made me pay a lot more attention to hiphop and from there I just went backwards to learn the true essence of hip hop and found my own way of expressing it."- Kasean

We wanted to find out an intro about his background & process getting involved in music. He began to freestyle at an early age with his brother and while he was listening to some JAY-Z mixtapes. He started to wonder if he could make tracks of his own. As years went on and he progressed, he then realized that writing music something he has always been passionate about.

Pure HIP HOP & OUT OF THE BOX THINKING

Studio tracks and pushing singles is currently in the mix for KaSean, but we wanted to find out more about his unique style, sound, and influences. He mentioned just life and general and the GRIND. We all experience similar lives in the face of obstacles, but forming his own struggles and life situations into a successful process to overcome that adversity is a craft in itself. This is what it is all about.  When you get lost you can find your way by overcoming the challenges through hard work, gratitude, and excellence. The most motivating thing to him is the flourishing stage. When an Artist Makes it out of adversity and finally reaches a flourishing, prospering stage. This is something that many people strive for and it is very exciting to see artists and people reach their full potential and go past it even further! Making it your own.

fleshxfur originated from John's Photography Business- Originally called, 'John Welch PhoDography' (an exclusive dog photographer), however he began to incorporate working with people, so developed the name to become, 'Flesh + Fur Photography'.  He chose to use it as his rapper name because not only is it unique,  but it showcases his real passion for dogs, photography, music, and links it all together.

Eddy Vocals Customizes the tracks and did all recording, mixing, and dropped the hook for the 'Know Me' collaboration with Spictacular and Mr. ESQ-- This project also includes a collaboration with an underground artist from Denver, Doozy Doo.
